First of all, please think about forgiving me for this in advance...I have been under duress lately (duh)!! :)
I guess I jumped the gun with making a decision too soon. You know what they say about making decisions while under stress? We wanted to plan something for the family as a celebration of Grandpa's life and picked the date in August. As we began to think about it and what was most appropriate for all and for me and for Grandma, it seems to be much more wise to wait and have our celebration at Thanksgiving. It has worked well for us as a time to gather many times over the years. It will give Grandma some time to emotionally get back on her feet and back into her daily routine and it will give me some time to rest and recuperate from the stress of these past weeks.

Lois, I think that is a very sensible solution. I wish I could be there.
I want you to know that I've been following this blog over the past several days. It has been a bit of Deja Vu for me as this journey so closely mirrors what Martha and I went through seven years ago in April.
Losing your dad, my Uncle John, disolves the last living link I have to Daddy's famiily. But what a joy to imagine the great Blann Reunion going on right now! Grandmother & Granddaddy; Aunt Margaret, Aunt Clara, Aunt Vera and Aunt Weezie.
Then add cousin Steven Andresen, Kathy, Bob, Carol, Martha . . . can you imagine?!
I love and so admire you, Lois, for your enduring love and care of your parents. There is no greater love here on earth.

So many of you would not know me, but I would be most ungrateful if I did not express my appreciation for this blogspot of a very, very dear friend, H. John Blann!
One of the dearest treasures in my memory bank of H. John Blann was a trip that he and I took to his home out East from Frankfort, in my new VW, before we were invited to go to South Africa as missionaries. He wanted his home church to consider me as a possible candidate for pastor.
As I drove he read devotional material to me from Rosalind Rinker's book on Prayer, "Conversing with God" (ISBN 0-310-32171-9). It had a profound effect on what I thought about the Lord, and though a small investment for Him, it was from the heart of a man who loved God, and wanted to serve Him in the best of his ability. He loved me, and it has eternal dividends that carry on at this present moment! I still remember it today!
In loving memory of a dear, dear friend!

Understood. Please let us know when you have something specific figured out, so I can try to change my flight arrangements.
